Do I need to be a musician to use Beat Loop?
No. Beat Loop is designed to be simple enough for anybody to use. Some drum beat programs require you to have knowledge of tempo. Others make you lay out complicated beat patterns. With Beat Loop, you can tap out a drum beat as easily as tapping your fingers on a table.
What drums does Beat Loop feature?
Beat Loop has the following drums: Kick drum, Snare drum, High Tom, Mid Tom, Floor Tom, Closed Hi-Hat, Open Hi-Hat, Ride and Crash cymbals.
What is Velocity Simulation?
Real acoustic drums make different sounds depending on how hard you hit them. This is known as the velocity of the hit. Beat Loop lets you produce soft, medium and hard drum hits by simulating different velocities.
How do I use the Velocity Simulation feature?
Simply tap near the top of the drum pad to produce soft drum sounds. As you tap further towards the bottom, the drum hits will get harder. Each drum has 3 levels of velocity built in.
How do I record a drum beat?
Simply tap the Record button in the lower-left corner. The recording will begin when you tap the first drum key. To stop recording, tap the blue Stop button in the lower-left corner (it will appear once recording has began).
How do I play back my recording?
Tap the Play button on the toolbar. Your recording will play back immediately. You can pause and restart the playback at any time. (For information on looping your recordings, see below).
I messed up the recording. What do I do?
If you are in playback mode, tap the Done button to dismiss the playback screen. Then simply tap the Record button and start over again.
How do I loop my recording?
You need to set a Loop Point for your recording. Play your recording and wait for it to finish. When it does, the Loop Point button will appear:

Tap the Loop Point button at the exact time when the drum beat should repeat. Once you have done so, the playback screen will indicate that the drum beat is now in loop mode:

My loop doesn’t sound right. It starts too soon or too late. What do I do?
Clear the existing Loop Point by tapping the Loop Point icon:

The Loop Point will be cleared and you will see the default Loop Point icon:

Then, simply follow the instructions above in How do I loop my recording? to set a new loop point.
I can’t set a Loop Point because the Loop Point icon never appears. What’s wrong?
The Loop Point icon appears only at the end of your recording. You can not start looping mid-way through a recording.
I am having trouble setting the Loop Point correctly. Any tips?
The goal is to set the Loop Point at the time when the recording should start repeating. Listen carefully to your drum beat, and tap the Loop Point button when you would tap the next drum beat in the sequence.
If you’re still struggling, you could try tapping your finger to the rhythm on another part of the screen. Keep tapping the rhythm while your recording is playing. When the recording has finished, tap the Loop Point button.
It may take a couple of attempts, but once you get the hang of it we think you’ll agree that there is no simpler, faster way of creating drum loops.
How do I save my recording?
If you’re in playback mode, tap the Done button. Then tap the Save button on the toolbar. Type in a name for your recording and press Save (or Done).
Does Beat Loop save the Loop Point that I have set?
Yes, it sure does.
How do I load a recording?
Tap the Load button on the toolbar. You will see a list of all of your previously recorded drum beats. Simply tap one, and it will begin playback immediately.
Can I delete a recording?
Yes. On the Load screen, you can delete any old or unwanted recordings. Tap the Edit button on the Load screen’s toolbar, and then tap the red circle next to the unwanted recording. A red Delete button will appear. Tap this Delete button, and the recording will be removed.
Alternatively, if you swipe your finger across the name of an unwanted recording (as if you were crossing it out with a pen), the red Delete button will also appear.
